The purpose of the ACA Standards Course is to prepare camp directors and administrators for their accreditation visits and to serve as an introduction to the standards program for those interested in becoming accreditation visitors. The person completing the ACA Standards Course is expected to actively assist the camp in preparation for the accreditation visit and to participate fully in the on-site visit. ACA membership is NOT a prerequisite for this course. Due to revisions to the standards ALL CAMPS must attend a standards course or standards update before their accreditation visit in 2015. Participants should bring their lunches and their APGs.

New Camp Directors' Workshop This is "Boot Camp" for new camp directors or those planning a camp career. In a small, supportive atmosphere, you’ll get the tools you’ll need for running a successful day or resident camp. Learn from the pros about everything from staff hiring and training to working with parents, from dealing with children to handling the everyday situations and issues that are an inevitable part of your life at camp. A team of experienced directors and consultants will lead in-depth workshops and provide invaluable materials and hands-on training scenarios.

May 18  - 18 ACA, VA New Director Orientation 5/18/15 Weston, WV

The ACA New Director Orientation Course (NDO) is a special seven hour course (7 CECs) for seasonal or new camp directors, assistant directors, program directors, or persons that have been in other administrative positions and are considering directing a camp. The NDO course helps directors and supervisors develop the skills they need to be effective leaders for their camp program. The course covers five critical areas: camp management leadership, risk management, camper behavior, staff training, and staff supervision.

Bringing together management staff from all over Hawaii, Leadership Day facilitates networking, professional development and education specific to the needs of camp leaders in Hawaii. Drawing from the knowledge of nationally recognized experts in the out-of-school time field, participants will leave with new tools to improve their programs and make their work easier at camp and beyond! The 2015 Leadership Day will feature Bob Ditter.
May 30  - 30 ACA, VA First Aid/CPR Training 5/30/15 Falls Church, VA

American Heart Association, Heart saver FA/CPR/AED valid for 2 years and on the ACA approved course list to meet Standard HW.2.1; FA/CPR/AED for Adult & Child. 3 hours teaching time for CPR/AED; 3 hours teaching time for First Aid. This training is strenuous and requires participants to be able to kneel to do CPR and complete skill tests for certification.

Facilitated by Greg Cronin: Greg Cronin, CCD is a speaker, trainer, and author with more than 25 years of management experience. His extensive work in the areas of staff training and leadership development has been the basis for a series of articles published in the American Camp Association’s (ACA) Camping Magazine. With such titles as "Teaching Health and Safety", "Day Camp Supervision Techniques", and "The ABCD’s of Staff Training", Greg provides step-by-step methods to help professional directors incorporate proven management techniques into daily routines.

Registration includes lunch.
