Description
The purpose of the ACA Standards Course is to prepare camp directors and administrators for their accreditation visits and to serve as an introduction to the standards program for persons interested in becoming accreditation visitors. The person completing the ACA Standards Course is expected to actively assist the camp in preparation for the accreditation visit and fully participate in the on-site visit. ACA membership is not a prerequisite for this course. Some of the items covered in a standards course include: • Introduction to the Accreditation Process Guide • Requirements for a camp to be accredited • Mandatory standard and written documentation requirements • Determining areas of the camp operation that will need to be scored • Basic risk management Standards Course attendance is required of a camp director/administrator of any camp seeking accreditation when: 1. This is the first time the camp is to be visited; 2. They are a new director of an already accredited camp; 3. There have been significant changes to the accreditation program (as there will be in 2012); or 4. The individual will be taking the Associate Visitor Course
