Description
North Fork Camp is a new facility being constructed by the Girl Scouts Gateway Council of Jacksonville, Florida. This facility is about 50% complete and camp professionals from the Southeast are invited to tour the facility and view the design plans with the architects. Attendees will learn about program offerings for the Girl Scout membership during construction (check out our girls' blog at www.northforkcamp.blogspot.com) as well as what is expected for the future and community partnership we are developing. Opportunities will be available to speak with staff and contractors about the process of master site planning. Of specific interest may be: The drip field irrigation system, Zero entry pool and salt/chlorine generation filtration system, Variances needed, Fish relocation project, sustainable/environmentally friendly building design choices (LEED concepts applied and followed, although the site will not be seeking certification), and seeking input on where to place a low ropes course on site. Attire: Guests should be prepared to walk with close-toed shoes etc. It is a construction site and it does get muddy, please be prepared; jeans appropriate, please be dressed for the weather--limited shelter available currently. Cameras welcome.
