Surveying campers to find out what they got out of camp is the most common approach to assessing camper outcomes. Surveys are not without flaws, though, and anyone who has surveyed campers can attest to challenges such as getting staff on board, getting campers to give meaningful responses, and dealing with the data. While there are certainly benefits to the survey approach, there are also techniques that can provide rich insight into campers' experiences at camp. This webinar focuses on creative assessment techniques that are easy to implement across a wide range of ages. The creative approaches covered in this webinar, many of which are effectively used in schools and other youth development settings, are sure to make a great addition to the camp evaluation tool box.
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify at least three new non-survey options for evaluating camper outcomes;
- Anticipate and avoid the potential barriers to implementing creative evaluation approaches
- Analyze information gathered through creative evaluation approaches
- Use information gathered through creative approaches in conjunction with data gathered through traditional approaches such as surveys.
