ACA's Standards course is for camps new to the accreditation process or individuals who have not taken a Standards Course. The course serves as an introduction to ACA's accreditation program and helps participants prepare for accreditation visits. The course describes the purpose and value of standards and accreditation, and gives an explanation of how the process works and what resources and materials are available. The course offers specific discussion about the requirements of the standards, including: application of the core and specialized activity standards, mandatory standards, and written documentation requirements. If you have a currently updated APG (including Sept. 2014) please bring it. This course is appropriate for camps seeking Accreditation for 2015 and for camps thinking about accreditation in the future. Bring a sack lunch

The Standards Update Training is for camp directors and/or other camp representatives who have had a Standards Course in the last 3 years and have a current APG. The person completing the course is expected to assist the camp in preparation for the accreditation visit and participate in the on-site visit. Due to revisions to the standards ALL CAMPS must attend a standards course or standards update before their accreditation visit in 2015. Bring your camp APG to this course.

New Standards introduced in 2012 and have been revised; revisions are effective for the 2015 accreditation visits. It is important for you to attend a Visitor Update Course to become up to date on the changes in the standards before you begin conducting Camp Self-Assessments and on site visits. January 15  - 16 ACA, VA Associate Visitor Course January 15-16, 2015 Williamsburg, VA

ACA's Associate Visitor course helps participants identify the purpose and structure of ACA's accreditation programs and understand the steps of the process at the camp, section, and national levels. Participants become familiar with the legal implications of visitor actions, as well as develop skills in gathering information, making compliance decisions, and consistently applying the standards in a variety of situations. This course stresses the awareness and acceptance of the intent of the standards to represent accepted practices of organized camping. Prerequisite: Participants in the Associate Visitor Course must be at least twenty-one years of age, a current ACA member, and have completed the Standards course and an application endorsed by their local ACA office. There is also an online pre-course (2.5 hours) that must be completed prior to the in person course. Please contact mailearmstrong@verizon.net if you are interested in this course.

The full standards course is designed for the individual who is NEW to the accreditation process and is required of anyone going through accreditation for the first time. The course offers specific discussion about the requirements of the standards, including: application of the core and specialized activity standards, mandatory standards, and written documentation requirements. There is NO COST to attend this course, however participants must register ahead of time to attend. One Accreditation Program Guide will be given to each camp. BRING A SACK LUNCH.

ACA membership is not a prerequisite for this course.

The purpose of this course is to bring current standards personnel and/or camp directors up to date. The Standards Update Course will highlight specific changes to the program as well as review the overall accreditation process to address frequently missed or misunderstood standards. This course is only for camps familiar with the accreditation process. All camps due for an accreditation visit in 2015 must attend a Standards Update Course or a Full Standards Course.

The Standards Course prepares camp directors for their accreditation visit and serves as an introduction to the standards program for people interested in becoming standards visitors. Individuals attending the Visitor Update Course are encouraged to stay for lunch and to attend the Fall Conference (separate registration required). This course is for any lead visitor who would like a review or any Associate Visitor who has recently been promoted to Lead Visitor.

The course has been developed to serve as a “stepping stone” between being an Associate Visitor and Visitor. The goals of this three part opportunity are:
• Develop a better understanding of the role of a Visitor
• Build confidence as a Visitor
• Understand where and how to find Visitor resources
• Review important information from the Associate Visitor Training Course.
