November 6  - 6 ACA, WI 2014 Fall Gathering and Educational Event East Troy, WI

ACA Wisconsin if hosting the annual Fall Gathering November 6 from 8:30am to 4:00pm at Camp Alice Chester. Our keynote speaker this year will be Scott Arizala. Scott will be leading our morning session on Where Magic Happens: The Power of Summer and facilitating breakout sessions in the afternoon. There will also be other breakout sessions on neuro-leadership, creating a safe camp environment, and we will also be offering standards training for visitors and camps who will be visited this upcoming summer. This is a one day event. Coffee and lunch will be provided.

November 11  - 11 ACA, NE Standards Full Course 11.11.14 North Andover, MA

The purpose of the ACA Standards Course is to prepare camp directors and administrators for their accreditation visits and to serve as an introduction to the standards program for those interested in becoming accreditation visitors. The person completing the ACA Standards Course is expected to actively assist the camp in preparation for the accreditation visit and fully participate in the on-site visit. ACA membership is not a prerequisite for this course. This course is required for camps seeking 2015 accreditation
November 15  - 15 ACA, Northland/Wisconsin Associate Visitor Course 11.15.14 Hudson, WI

This course is for those wishing to become visitors in the ACA Accreditation Program. Completion of a Standards Course and ACA membership are a prerequisite. All attendees are required to attend the full course. Participant cost covers meals and snacks All attendees will receive a copy of the new Accreditation Process Guide.

Prepares camp executives/directors/owners personnel already familiar with ACA Standards Program with information and training on the newly revised camp standards. This course is appropriate for camp directors/administrators/owners "experienced" in the ACA accreditation process – have completed the 2012 Standards Course and assisted a camp through an accreditation visit. Those attending will have been through the accreditation process, either as a director or visitor. Please bring your APG.

His skills range from the traditional teambuilding and adventure-based learning program areas to staff unity and skill building, song leading, square dance calling, social recreation, boomerang throwing, model rocket launching, disc golf course construction and dozens of other valuable and sometimes surprising camp and outdoor skills. Conference includes a variety of workshops, networking and more! Registration includes conference, Tuesday overnight lodging and meals. ACA's Standards course serves as an introduction to ACA's Standards Program and helps participants prepare for accreditation visits. The course describes the purpose and value of standards and accreditation, and gives an explanation of how the process works and what resources and materials are available. The full standards course is designed for the individual who is NEW to the accreditation process and is required of anyone going through accreditation for the first time. The course offers specific discussion about the requirements of the standards, including: application of the core and specialized activity standards, mandatory standards, and written documentation requirements. There is NO COST to attend this course, however participants must register ahead of time to attend. One Accreditation Program Guide will be given to each camp. BRING A SACK LUNCH.

January 15  - 16 ACA, VA Associate Visitor Course January 15-16, 2015 Williamsburg, VA

ACA's Associate Visitor course helps participants identify the purpose and structure of ACA's accreditation programs and understand the steps of the process at the camp, section, and national levels. Participants become familiar with the legal implications of visitor actions, as well as develop skills in gathering information, making compliance decisions, and consistently applying the standards in a variety of situations. This course stresses the awareness and acceptance of the intent of the standards to represent accepted practices of organized camping. Prerequisite: Participants in the Associate Visitor Course must be at least twenty-one years of age, a current ACA member, and have completed the Standards course and an application endorsed by their local ACA office. There is also an online pre-course (2.5 hours) that must be completed prior to the in person course. Please contact mailearmstrong@verizon.net if you are interested in this course.
