The Standards Update Course is for Camp Directors and / other camp representatives who are familiar with the ACA Accreditation process. The person completing the course is expected to assist the camp in preparation for the accreditation visit and participate in the on-site visit. Due to revisions to the standards ALL CAMPS must attend a Standards Course or Standards Update Course before their accreditation visit in 2014.

May 10  - 10 ACA, NE Standards Course 5.10.14 Holyoke, MA

The purpose of the ACA Standards Course is to prepare camp directors and administrators for their accreditation visits and to serve as an introduction to the standards program for those interested in becoming accreditation visitors. Camps being visited in 2014 must have a representative complete the course. The person completing the ACA Standards Course is expected to actively assist the camp in preparation for the accreditation visit and fully participate in the on-site visit. ACA membership is not a prerequisite for this course. Some of the items covered in a standards course include: Introduction to the Accreditation Process Guide, requirements for a camp to be accredited, mandatory standard and written documentation requirements and determining areas of the camp operation that will need to be scored

New Director Orientation (NDO) is a one day course for seasonal or new camp directors, assistant directors, program directors, or persons that have been in other administrative positions and are considering directing summer camp. The NDO course helps directors and supervisors develop the skills they need to be effective leaders for their camp program. The course covers five core areas of camp management: leadership, risk management, camper behavior, staff training, and staff supervision. Lunch will be provided.

May 30  - 30 ACA, RM USA Level 1 Archery Certification Training Bailey, CO

The USA Archery Level I Archery Certification Course teaches basic archery instruction skills and safety. Course content: Range safety, range set-up, basic equipment setup and repair, and how to teach the basic steps of shooting. The certification is valid for three years. Registration includes a full day of instruction as well as lunch. Lodging on May 29th (including dinner on the 29th and breakfast on the 30th) is also available.
May 30  - 30 First Aid CPR AED Certification Training Bailey, CO

American Heart Association's Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult and pediatric CPR and AED use.
